MP backs biodiesel tax break project

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a project to keep for business who produce biodiesel.

Producers converting cooking oil into biodiesel currently take advantage of a 20p differential however that is because of end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been consulting with the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.

Mr George stated "a variety of little organizations in Cornwall presently generate income from used cooking oil".

He added: "In order to be able to get this sort of industry going it does need just a little bit of lift which can be found in the type of tax inevitable."

Biodiesel is a blend of conventional diesel, rapeseed and vegetable oils.
